Baby Safety Checklist
Couples expecting a baby have dozens of things to do to get ready. There are things to buy, decisions to make, people to talk to. With so many things to do, making lists is a good idea, and a baby safety checklist is one of the most important to make. Some things on such a can wait until baby is older and starts to crawl, but others list should be finished before baby comes home. Making such a list gives parents to be ample time to think about the items on it and plan for the baby.
There are some baby safety products that parents will want to buy before the baby arrives, such as items to make the crib safe and a set of baby monitors. There are many different types of baby cribs, and there are certain items that parents may want to purchase depending on what kind they have. If your cribs sides slide down, you may want to add an extra clip or other securing device to make sure they stay up. Bumper pads are also a safety item, as they prevent your child from getting bruised if they bump the sides of their crib. Bedding should also not be too soft, as there is a risk of suffocation with very soft blankets. Baby monitors are an excellent tool for keeping an ear on they baby during the night and nap times. A transmitter in with the baby sends signals to a receiver that can be carried around, allowing you to hear when the baby wakes up or starts crying. Other items and tasks on a baby safety checklist can wait until later, when the baby starts to crawl. Baby proofing your house can wait until the baby starts moving around on its own.
Then additional safety products like baby gates, outlet plugs, and cupboard latches should be purchased and put out. Exactly what you need to do will depend on your house and concerns. This is another advantage of making a safety checklist: it allows you to think about and reflect upon your concerns, and how best to address them.
